The Airam bicycle tail light is a simple and reliable LED tail light for bicycles. A red light is legally required when riding in the dark. The light operates on two levels: a steady light for clarity and a flashing mode for better visibility in busy traffic. Battery-operated (2x AAA, not included).

Batteries 2x AAA are NOT included — purchase separately. Quick-release mounting to the rear of the bicycle. Red LED, steady or flashing mode.

Usage and compatibility

Batteries not included

The tail light operates with two AAA batteries, which are purchased separately. A good choice is Procell Intense AAA batteries, which last a long time and are suitable for professional use. For home use, ordinary AAA batteries can also be used.

Steady or flashing light

The light has two operating modes:

  • Steady light: clear and natural, better for rural riding and in dim light
  • Flashing light: stands out better in busy urban traffic — attracts the attention of other road users more effectively

Choose the mode according to the riding environment. The switch is on the light.

Quick release and removability

The light is attached to the bicycle seat post or a similar location with a quick-release mechanism. You can easily remove the light when leaving your bike outside — reducing the risk of theft.

Front light is separate

This is a tail light. When riding in the dark, a bicycle also needs a white front light — check out the Airam Premo USB rechargeable front light.

Tips for safe cycling

  • Check the lights before each ride
  • Replace batteries as soon as the light dims
  • Use flashing mode in the city, steady in the countryside
  • Always carry spare batteries — batteries drain faster in the cold

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Are batteries included?

No, it doesn't. Airam's rear bicycle light operates on two AAA batteries, which are sold separately. Please check the package contents before first use — you will need to purchase 2x AAA batteries for the light to function.

A good choice is Procell Intense AAA batteries (10-piece bulk pack) — they last a long time and the unit price is affordable. For home use, regular AAA alkaline batteries can also be used.

When should I use flashing mode?

Flashing and steady modes are suitable for different riding environments:

  • Flashing light: in urban traffic, during daytime twilight, in busy traffic environments. A flashing light stands out better among car and pedestrian traffic.
  • Steady light: when riding in rural areas and at night, when a calm and clear light is desired. Flashing can disturb those driving behind on other roads.

Finnish road traffic law does not differentiate between steady and flashing tail lights — both are permitted. Choose the mode according to the riding environment.

How long do the batteries last?

Battery life depends on the operating mode used and the quality of the batteries:

  • Steady light, good alkaline batteries: typically 20–50 hours
  • Flashing light: significantly longer — often over 100 hours

Battery power decreases in cold weather, so batteries should be changed more often in winter. Always check the light before riding — a dimming light indicates that the batteries are running low. Carry spare batteries with you, especially on longer trips.

Is a tail light legally required in the dark?

Yes. In Finland, when riding in the dark or at dusk, a bicycle must have functional lights:

In addition, the bicycle must have a red reflector at the rear and yellow or white reflectors on the sides. Exact regulations can be found in the Road Traffic Act. The lights must be in working order — check the batteries regularly and replace them as soon as the light dims.
