This is a standard pear-shaped halogen bulb that is a direct replacement for an old 40-watt incandescent bulb: 370 lumens of warm 2700 Kelvin light, the same E27 base, and almost the same size. It is suitable for ceiling lights, table and floor lamps, and any place where you want the look of a traditional bulb and instant-on light. The clear glass leaves the filament visible.

Compatibility and installation

The A55 is slightly narrower than a standard 60 mm bulb, so the lamp fits all E27 fixtures that fit an old incandescent bulb. The 240 V rating works normally in the Finnish 230 V network.

Do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers – handle the bulb through a clean cloth.

  1. Check that the light fixture has an E27 socket.
  2. Check the maximum wattage indicated on the fixture: at least 28 W.
  3. Switch off the power and let the old bulb cool down.
  4. Screw the new bulb into place using a cloth.

Does a 28-watt halogen correspond to a 40-watt incandescent bulb?

Roughly. A standard 40-watt incandescent bulb gives about 400 lumens, and this halogen gives 370 lumens. It's hard to notice the difference with the naked eye, and the light color is the same warm 2700 K.

The halogen produces light with less power, so consumption drops by about a third. If you need the light of a 60-watt bulb, choose the 52 W halogen.

What is the difference between an A55 and a P45 bulb?

It is about the shape and size of the bulb. A55 is a standard pear-shaped bulb with a diameter of 55 mm and a length of 98 mm. P45 is a smaller globe: diameter 45 mm and length approximately 72 mm.

The light output is the same if the wattage is the same. Choose A55 for standard light fixtures and P45 for small shades and wall lights. A smaller model with the same wattage is the Thorgeon P45 28 W.

How long does a halogen lamp last?

The lifespan of this bulb is not specified in the product information. Mains-voltage halogen bulbs typically last about 1,000–2,000 hours, which is significantly less than LED bulbs.

Lifespan is reduced in particular by frequent switching on and off, vibration, and handling the glass with bare fingers. In fixtures used infrequently, however, a halogen bulb can last for years.

Can a halogen lamp be used with a dimmer?

Usually, yes. Halogen lamps work with traditional dimmers, and the light becomes warmer when dimmed. However, the dimmability of this specific lamp is not separately stated in the product specifications.

Check the minimum load of your dimmer. If only one 28-watt lamp is connected to the dimmer, the load may be too low, which can cause the light to flicker.
