Compatibility and installation
EM & AC marking — works in two ways
The Osram Dulux D EM & AC lamp is designed to work with both old magnetic ballasts (EM = electromagnetic) and direct 230V mains voltage (AC = alternating current). This makes installation exceptionally easy — you don't need to know if the luminaire has a ballast or not.
Installation options:
- Old luminaire with ballast: just replace the lamp, the ballast can remain in place
- Luminaire without ballast (direct 230V): just replace the lamp, no modifications needed
- Luminaire with electronic control gear: check compatibility on the Compatibility tables page
Check the correct base: G24d-2 ≠ G24d-1 ≠ G24q-2
G24d-2 is a 2-pin base where the pins are at a certain distance. It should not be confused with other G24 family bases (G24d-1, G24q-1, G24q-2). Check the marking on the bottom of the lamp before ordering.
This lamp is not dimmable
Do not install in a luminaire with a dimmer. The lamp may flicker, stay on at full power, or be damaged.
Installation checklist
