Dual compatibility — CCG and AC

This lamp operates in two different ways, offering greater installation flexibility:

Installation method 1: CCG (magnetic ballast)

• Suitable for older fluorescent fixtures with a magnetic ballast
• The starter must be replaced with an LED-compatible one (dummy S-starter)
• The magnetic ballast is left in place
• Simple direct replacement for the fluorescent tube

Installation method 2: AC (direct mains voltage)

• Suitable for new LED fixtures or renovation projects
• Ballast and starter are removed — requires rewiring
• The lamp is connected directly to 230V mains voltage
• Requires installation by a qualified electrician

1200 mm length — 36W T8 fluorescent standard

This is a standard-sized 36W T8 fluorescent tube replacement, most commonly used in:

• Offices — general lighting in open offices, corridors, and meeting rooms
• Supermarkets and department stores — retail lighting in aisles and shelf areas
• Railway and service stations — general indoor lighting
• Parking lots and garages — long-life lighting
• Industrial facilities and warehouses — general lighting

Energy savings and total costs

A 12W LED produces the same light output as a 36W fluorescent tube but with significantly lower energy consumption:

• 36W T8 fluorescent tube: lifespan 12,000–24,000 h, requires multiple replacements over the years
• This 12W LED: lifespan 100,000 h — 4–8 times longer, no replacements needed
• Energy savings: approximately 67% (12W vs 36W)
• Lower heat emission — also reduces ventilation costs in hot environments

Glass tube design — omnidirectional light distribution

The glass tube design produces a 360° omnidirectional light distribution, just like a traditional T8 fluorescent tube. This differs from many LED tubes where light is directed in only one direction — providing more even light distribution in the space, fewer shadows, and suitability for reflector fixtures where light needs to reach the edges of the fixture.

EU EcoDesign regulations — fluorescent tube ban

The EU EcoDesign Directive 2019/2020 restricted the sale of T8 fluorescent tubes for new systems starting August 25, 2023. This LED alternative is fully compliant with EU regulations, acts as a direct replacement for fluorescent tubes using the CCG installation method, and is a long-term solution — the 100,000-hour lifespan makes it a future-proof choice.

Installation checklist

CCG installation (magnetic ballast):

1. Check that the fixture is a T8 G13 base type and contains a magnetic ballast
2. Turn off power at the main switch
3. Remove the old fluorescent tube
4. Replace the old starter with an LED-compatible one
5. Install the new LED tube into the same holder
6. Turn on the power and verify operation

AC installation (direct 230V):

1. Qualified electrician required — requires rewiring
2. Turn off power at the main switch
3. The electrician removes the ballast and starter
4. Wire directly to 230V mains voltage
5. Install the LED tube
6. Turn on the power and verify operation
