The Osram LED 2G11 4-pin plug-in lamp replaces a traditional 24W 2G11 fluorescent lamp with half the power consumption. It operates either with an existing ballast or directly on 230V mains voltage — the installation method is chosen during setup. The service life is up to 30,000 hours, and the lamp contains no mercury.

Compatibility and installation

Replaces: 24W 2G11 4-pin fluorescent lamp. Two installation methods:

  • With an existing ballast (ECG): if the luminaire has an electronic control gear (ECG), the lamp can be installed directly — no modifications required.
  • Directly to 230V: if the ballast is a traditional (CCG/magnetic ballast) or if you wish to remove the ballast entirely, bypass the ballast and connect 230V directly to the 2G11 sockets. Requires a wiring change and a qualified electrician.

Dimming: this model is non-dimmable — do not use with a dimmer.

Installation checklist:

  1. Check the luminaire ballast type — ECG or CCG.
  2. ECG: simply replace the lamp — no wiring changes needed.
  3. CCG or direct 230V: bypass the ballast and connect 230V directly to the sockets.
  4. Always have installation performed by a qualified electrician when wiring modifications are required.

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Does this replace a 24W 2G11 fluorescent lamp?

Yes. The Osram LED 2G11 12W produces a luminous flux of 1500 lm — equivalent to a traditional 24W 2G11 4-pin fluorescent lamp. You save 50% energy and get a 30,000-hour service life, which is about 3 times longer than that of a fluorescent lamp.

Can I change the bulb without making any wiring changes?

It depends on the luminaire's ballast. If the luminaire has an electronic ballast (EVG), you can replace the lamp directly — no changes are needed. If, however, the luminaire has a conventional magnetic ballast (CCG), a wiring change is required: the ballast must be bypassed and 230V connected directly to the sockets. The replacement requires an electrician.

Is the lamp dimmable?

No. This model is not dimmable. Do not use with a dimmer, as the bulb will flicker or turn off. For dimmable needs, browse our selection of dimmable LED bulbs.

Does the lamp contain mercury?

No. As an LED product, the lamp is mercury-free — unlike the traditional 2G11 fluorescent lamp, which contains 1–3 mg of mercury. A spent LED lamp can be recycled at standard electrical and electronic waste collection points without special handling.
