The 28W halogen candle lamp is a natural replacement for an old 40W candle lamp: 370 lumens of warm 2700K light is sufficient for chandeliers, candelabras, and wall lamps. Thanks to its low wattage, the lamp stays below the 40W power limit of most fixtures and heats the shade less. The clear glass makes crystals sparkle, and the light switches on instantly.

Compatibility and installation

The dimensions 35 x 97 mm are standard for a candle lamp, so the lamp fits into most E14 candle sockets and candle covers. The 240 V rating works normally with Finland's 230 V power grid.

Do not touch the glass of the halogen lamp with bare fingers – handle the lamp using a clean cloth.

  1. Check that the fixture has an E14 socket.
  2. Check the maximum allowed wattage marked on the fixture: at least 28 W.
  3. Turn off the power and let the old lamp cool down.
  4. Screw in the new lamp using a cloth.

Does a 28-watt halogen correspond to a 40-watt candle bulb?

Approximately. A standard 40-watt candle bulb provides about 400 lumens, and this halogen bulb 370 lumens. In use, the difference is small, and the light tone is the same warm 2700 K.

At the same time, consumption drops by about a third. If you want more light, the 42 W model provides 625 lumens.

Does the bulb fit a fixture marked max 40 W?

That works. 28 W is clearly below the 40-watt limit, so the base and shade will heat up less than with the old 40-watt bulb. This is a good choice, especially for fabric and paper shades, and for chandeliers where the bulbs are close to each other.

You should still check the lamp's marking, as some small light fixtures have a limit of only 25 W.

Will a 97 mm long candle bulb fit into my lamp?

Likely. A diameter of 35 mm and a length of approximately 100 mm is the standard size for a candle bulb, so the lamp will fit most E14 candle sockets, candelabras, and chandeliers.

If the light fixture has a small shade or glass cover, measure the height between the socket and the edge of the shade and compare it to the old bulb.

Is there an LED equivalent for this bulb?

Yes. E14 base LED candle lamps are also available as clear filament models, where the visible filament resembles a halogen lamp. They consume a fraction of the energy and produce less heat.
