A special-length 14W T8 fluorescent tube with a G13 base, producing natural white 4000K light and good color rendering (CRI 80–89). The 361 mm length is especially suitable for older furniture luminaires, advertising luminaires, and applications where standard-length fluorescent tubes do not fit – for example, in older interior lighting fixtures or custom-made luminaire housings.

T8 G13 base. Requires a ballast or electronic control gear. Contains mercury.

ℹ Special length — 361 mm long

This fluorescent tube is slightly longer than the most common 14W T8 standard length (360 mm). Check the exact dimensions of your luminaire before ordering – especially for tight housings, the length difference can be significant. Availability can be checked in the shopping cart.

ℹ T8 fluorescent tubes — transitioning to LED

The EU's EcoDesign directive restricts the sale of T8 fluorescent tubes for new installations. This product is available for the maintenance of existing luminaires. If you want to modernize your entire system, consider T8 LED tubes – energy savings of about 50% and a lifespan up to 4 times longer.

Compatibility and Installation

Special length 361 mm — check luminaire dimensions

This is slightly longer than the most common 14W T8 standard length (360 mm). A 1 mm difference usually does not affect installation, but some precisely measured luminaires may be sensitive:

  • In most luminaires, 361 mm fits directly into a 360 mm holder
  • Precisely measured luminaire housings (e.g., advertising luminaires, vintage fixtures) may require an exact dimension
  • Measure the length of your existing fluorescent tube before ordering if you have doubts

Typical applications

  • Older furniture luminaires — under-cabinet kitchen lights, workbench lights
  • Advertising luminaires — small light signs, product display luminaires
  • Safes and display cabinets — small exhibition spaces and shops
  • Older interior lighting fixtures — where a special-length tube is original
  • Maintenance of older systems — when current fluorescent tubes burn out

T8 vs T5 — do not confuse

A T8 fluorescent tube has a diameter of 26 mm and a G13 base. Do not confuse it with T5 fluorescent tubes, which are thinner (16 mm) and use a G5 base. These are not interchangeable.

Requires a ballast or electronic control gear

A T8 fluorescent tube needs either a traditional ballast and starter or an electronic control gear (EVG / HF) to function. Check your luminaire before purchasing to see which system is in use – both are compatible with this fluorescent tube.

If needed, compatible control gear can be found in the Electrical Supplies → Control Gear/Ballasts category.

Contains mercury — recycling is important

Like all fluorescent tubes, this one contains a small amount of mercury, which is harmful to the environment. At the end of its lifespan, the fluorescent tube must be recycled according to the WEEE directive:

  • Do not put the fluorescent tube in mixed waste
  • Take the end-of-life tube to the nearest WEEE collection point (recycling centers, electrical supply stores, hardware stores)
  • Do not break the fluorescent tube during transport – mercury vapor is harmful to health

EU EcoDesign Restrictions

The EU EcoDesign directive 2019/2020 restricts the sale of T8 fluorescent tubes for new systems starting from August 25, 2023:

  • Allowed: maintenance of existing luminaires, replacement of old burnt-out lamps
  • Recommended: long-term modernization of systems to LED alternatives

For special-length T8 fluorescent tubes (like this 361 mm), a comparable quality LED alternative may not be immediately available – in such cases, continued use of the fluorescent tube is justified for the maintenance of an existing luminaire.

Installation Checklist

  1. Check that the luminaire has a T8 G13 base (not T5 G5)
  2. Measure the space between the luminaire holders and check that 361 mm fits
  3. Check that the luminaire's ballast or control gear is compatible with 14W power
  4. Install with power off — turn the lamp into place
  5. Turn on the power — the fluorescent tube will reach full power in about 30 seconds
  6. At the end of its life, recycle according to the WEEE directive

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

What does a special-sized fluorescent tube mean?

A special-length fluorescent tube means that the length deviates from standard lengths. Standard lengths for T8 fluorescent tubes are:

  • 14W = 360 mm
  • 15W = 438 mm
  • 18W = 600 mm
  • 30W = 895 mm
  • 36W = 1200 mm

This fluorescent tube is 361 mm – one millimeter longer than the most common 14W T8 standard length. In practice, in most luminaires, this fits directly into a 360 mm holder, but precisely measured luminaire housings (e.g., advertising luminaires, vintage fixtures) may require an exact measurement. Measure the length of the existing fluorescent tube before ordering if you doubt its suitability.

What is this special-sized fluorescent tube typically suitable for?

This 361mm length is especially suitable for:

  • Older fixture lights — under-cabinet kitchen lights, countertop lights
  • Advertising lights — small light signs, product display lights
  • Safes and display cases — small exhibition spaces and retail stores
  • Older decorative lighting — where a special length tube is original
  • Maintenance of old systems — when existing fluorescent tubes burn out and a special length is essential

If your existing fluorescent tube is 360mm long, this 361mm version is almost identical and usually fits directly. If you are unsure, measure the distance between the fixture's holders before ordering.

Can I replace this fluorescent tube with an LED equivalent?

It depends on the luminaire and precision. T8 LED tubes are available in lengths of 600 mm, 1200 mm, and 1500 mm — 361 mm is a rare LED length. Options:

  • Custom-sized T8 LED: rare, but may be found in some selections for special use
  • Luminaire replacement: if the luminaire is old, consider purchasing an LED luminaire that comes with LED tubes in standard sizes
  • Continued use of fluorescent tube: if the luminaire is in good condition and custom-sized, keeping the fluorescent tube is justifiable

Explore our selection in the T8 LED tubes category, but note that 361 mm may not be available. You can also contact our customer service — we will help you find the best option for your luminaire.

How do I recycle a used fluorescent tube?

Fluorescent tubes must not be disposed of with mixed waste — they contain a small amount of mercury, which is harmful to the environment. Recycling is carried out in accordance with the WEEE Directive (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment):

  • Take used fluorescent tubes to the nearest WEEE collection point (collection of electrical and electronic waste). These can be found at municipal recycling centers, electrical supply stores, and hardware stores.
  • Especially for professional use — property management and electrical contracting companies often have their own fluorescent tube recycling agreement.
  • Do not break the fluorescent tube during transport — mercury vapor is harmful to health. Use the original packaging or a sturdy plastic bag.
