Not all applications require kilowatts of heat output. This 500-watt R7s heat lamp is suitable for smaller drying and heating applications where heat is desired in a limited area without heating the entire space. It is also the fastest model in our range to be delivered, which helps when an old lamp has already burned out.

Compatibility and installation

The lamp's total length of 256.1 mm determines which fixture it fits. The distance between the spring clips is fixed, so a lamp of a different length will not fit.

Do not touch the glass with bare fingers – skin oils can shorten the service life. Use a clean cloth or gloves.

  1. Measure the old lamp from end to end and compare the reading to 256 millimeters.
  2. Check the maximum allowed power of the fixture.
  3. Turn off the power and allow the old lamp to cool.
  4. Press the new lamp between the clips, handling it through a cloth.

Wiring and power control work should be performed by a qualified electrician.

How large an area does a 500-watt heat lamp heat?

It is not possible to promise an exact square footage, as it depends on the heater's reflector, installation height, and the material of the object. The principle is that infrared heat has the strongest effect directly below the lamp and weakens rapidly as the distance increases. The closer the lamp can be safely installed to the object, the more effectively the 500 watts will suffice.

What is the difference between a 500-watt and a 1000-watt heat lamp?

The difference lies in the heating power and the length of the lamp. The 500-watt model is 256 mm long and is suitable for smaller spaces, while the 1000-watt model is 333 mm long and produces significantly more heat. Because the lengths differ, the models are not interchangeable in the same light fixture. Therefore, first choose the length suitable for your fixture and only then the power.

How do you safely replace an R7s lamp?

Switch off the power and allow the old bulb to cool down completely – the heat lamp is extremely hot after use. Carefully push the bulb sideways against one spring clip, which will release the other end. Insert the new bulb in the same way, using a clean cloth so that no fingerprints are left on the glass.

Can a heat lamp be used outdoors or in a damp environment?

The product information does not state a moisture or environmental rating for the bulb, so we cannot guarantee one. In practice, the decisive factor is the fixture's IP rating, not the bulb itself. If the location is outdoors, in a wash bay, or in any other damp space, please check the fixture's rating and ask us if necessary.
