Compatibility and installation

Operates directly on 220–240V mains voltage

This G24d-1 LED lamp operates directly on mains voltage, so the old magnetic ballast of the luminaire must be bypassed or removed before installing the lamp. The lamp will not work if the ballast is still in the circuit — it will cause the lamp to flicker or prevent it from lighting up.

If the luminaire has an electronic ballast, the lamp may in some cases work with it, but compatibility must be checked. You can find compatibility information on the Compatibility Tables page.

Check the correct base: G24d-1 ≠ G24q-1

G24d-1 is a 2-pin base. It should not be confused with the 4-pin G24q-1 base, which looks visually similar but is incompatible. Check the bottom of the lamp to see two pins before ordering.

This lamp is not dimmable

Do not install in a luminaire with a dimmer. The lamp may flicker, stay on at full power, or be damaged.

Installation checklist

  1. Check that the base is G24d-1 (2-pin), not G24q-1 (4-pin)
  2. Check that the luminaire's magnetic ballast has been removed or bypassed
  3. Check that the luminaire does not have a dimmer
  4. Check that the lamp dimensions (Ø35 × 143 mm) fit the luminaire
  5. If necessary, ask an electrician to safely bypass the ballast
Power: 4.5W

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Does this lamp directly replace an old 13W G24d-1 bulb?
Yes, if the old bulb was of the G24d-1 2-pin type. Please check that the base is indeed G24d-1 (2 pins), not G24q-1 (4 pins) — these are different bases from the same family. In addition, the magnetic ballast of the luminaire must be bypassed, as this LED bulb operates directly on 220–240V mains voltage.
Why must the old choke be removed before installing an LED lamp?
This G24d-1 LED lamp operates directly with 220–240V mains voltage and does not require a magnetic ballast to function. If a ballast is still in the circuit, it will cause the lamp to flicker or prevent it from lighting up. Bypassing a magnetic ballast is electrical work, so we recommend having an electrician do it.
How much energy will I save by switching?
This lamp consumes 4.5 W while a traditional bayonet bulb consumed 13 W — a saving of about 65%. In addition, the lifespan of an LED lamp is significantly longer than that of a traditional bayonet bulb, which reduces replacement frequency.
Can I dim this lamp?
No. This model is not dimmable. If the light fixture has a dimmer, the bulb may flicker or be damaged. You need a different model if you want to adjust the light output.
