Compatibility and installation

Intended use: this lamp is intended only for insect traps (electric grids and glue traps). UV-A radiation is attractive to insects but not lethal — the actual trapping happens via an electric grid or adhesive paper that the insect flies toward in search of light.

Compatibility: suitable for insect traps with a T5 G5 base and a compatible ballast (52–60V lamp voltage). Check the manual of your specific trap.

NOTE: NOT for air disinfection: this is a UV-A lamp that does not kill bacteria or viruses. For germicidal UV-C use, you need a separate UV-C lamp — never use this lamp for air disinfection.

Installation checklist:

  1. Check that your trap's manual recommends a T5 G5 8W lamp.
  2. Do not look directly at the UV-A radiation — use the trap inside its housing.
  3. Place the trap out of reach of children and pets.
  4. Replace the lamp approximately every 12 months — UV-A intensity decreases over time, even if the lamp still appears to be lit.

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

What is this lamp used for?

The lamp is a UV-A attraction lamp for insect traps. UV-A radiation attracts flying insects (flies, mosquitoes, moths), which are captured by an electric grid or glue board. Suitable for households, restaurants, the food industry, and other areas where insects are a problem.

Can the lamp be used without disinfection?

No. This is a UV-A lamp (350–400 nm), which does not kill bacteria or viruses. For germicidal air disinfection, you need a separate UV-C lamp (200–280 nm). Never replace a UV-C lamp with this — it has zero disinfection effect.

Is UV-A radiation dangerous to humans?

Long-term exposure to UV-A radiation can irritate the eyes and skin, but short-term exposure at normal distances (over 1 m) is generally safe. Do not look directly into the lamp and place the trap out of reach of children and pets. Always use the trap in its protective housing.

How often does the light bulb need to be changed?

Replace the lamp approximately every 12 months, even if it still appears to be working. UV-A output weakens over time — after 12 months of use, the radiation is usually less than 50% of the original, which significantly reduces its attractiveness to insects. Regular replacement keeps the trap effective.
