Sometimes you don’t want light from a lamp, but rather atmosphere. This 15-watt E14 candle bulb provides only 90 lumens, which is a fraction of the brightness of a standard candle bulb – the filament is visible through the clear glass, and the light remains a soft glow. Ideal applications include window candle bridges, decorative lamps, and spaces where a light that is too bright would be a disturbance.

Compatibility and installation

E14 is a standard small screw base that fits most candle bridges and decorative lamps. The bulb's dimensions of 35 x 100 mm are the standard size for a candle bulb, so it will also fit into tight lampshades.

  1. Check that the lamp has screw threads (E14), not bayonet pins (B15d).
  2. Measure the available height in the lampshade: the bulb is 100 mm long.
  3. Turn off the power and let the old bulb cool down.
  4. Screw the new bulb in place gently; do not overtighten.

How dim is 90 lumens in practice?

Very dim. A standard 40-watt candle bulb provides about 400 lumens, so this bulb is about a quarter of that. 90 lumens is enough for mood lighting, an electric window candelabra, or a night light, but it won't light up a room and is not suitable as a reading light. If you want the light to be visible from outside the window, this is the perfect brightness.

What is a 15-watt candle bulb used for?

Typical applications include window candle bridges, Christmas decorations, decorative lamps, mirror lights, and chandeliers with multiple arms, where several dim bulbs together produce a suitable level of light. In a multi-armed light fixture, a dim bulb is often a better choice than a bright one because there are multiple points of light.

Does an E14 candle bulb fit into a standard candelabra?

For most, yes. E14 is the most common base for candelabras and decorative lamps in Finland. However, check two things on the lamp: that the base has threads rather than bayonet pins, and that a lamp 100 mm long and 35 mm wide fits under the shade.

Is there a similar LED bulb available?

Yes, there is a wide range of E14 base LED candle bulbs, including very dim filament models for atmospheric use. LEDs consume a fraction of the electricity to produce the same amount of light and last significantly longer, which is an advantage especially in a chandelier with multiple bulbs.
