Most incandescent bulbs are 2700 Kelvin. This E27 bulb is 2200 Kelvin, which is clearly yellower and softer – closer to dimmed light or candlelight than standard interior lighting. The tone is suitable for mood lighting, restaurants, and spaces where you want an evening-like, calm atmosphere. The clear glass leaves the filament visible.

Compatibility and installation

The dimensions of 55 x 98 mm are slightly smaller than a standard bulb, so the bulb will also fit into tight lampshades. The 240 V rating refers to the European voltage range, which works normally on Finland's 230-volt grid.

The incandescent bulb gets hot during use. Switch off the power and let the old bulb cool down before replacing it.

  1. Check that the luminaire has an E27 socket.
  2. Check the maximum allowed power marked on the luminaire.
  3. Measure the free space in the lampshade: 55 x 98 mm.
  4. Switch off the power and screw in the new bulb.

What does 2200 Kelvin light look like?

It is significantly yellower and softer than standard incandescent light. While 2700 Kelvin is warm white, 2200 Kelvin approaches the hue of a candle flame. The light feels evening-like and soothing, but it also emphasizes yellow and red tones while dimming blue ones. It is not suitable as a work light or for evaluating colors.

Why does this 60-watt bulb provide fewer lumens than a standard one?

The brightness and hue of an incandescent bulb both depend on the temperature of the filament. When the filament burns cooler, the light becomes yellower, but at the same time, the lumen output decreases. This is why this 2200 Kelvin bulb produces 630 lumens, while a standard 2700 Kelvin 60-watt bulb reaches about 700 lumens. The electricity consumption is still the same.

Where should very warm light be used?

Typical applications include restaurants, bars, cafés, hotel lobbies, and evening lighting at home where a soft and relaxing atmosphere is desired. The hue also works well with wood surfaces and textiles, as it enhances their warm tones. For a kitchen, home office, or bathroom mirror light, it is advisable to choose a more neutral shade.

What does GLS stand for in a lamp model designation?

GLS is an abbreviation for general lighting service, referring to the traditional pear-shaped general-purpose lamp body. It is the shape that comes to mind for most people when they hear the word light bulb. The designation distinguishes the lamp from, for example, candle, ball, and globe models, which have different shapes but may use the same base.
