This Osram globe-style LED provides 1521 lumens with just 11 watts, meaning power consumption drops by about 89 percent for the same amount of light. Compatibility and installation

The lamp has a diameter of 95 mm, which is significantly larger than a standard bulb. Ensure there is enough space in the fixture in both width and length.

Dimmability means that the lamp works with a dimmer – but not all dimmers are suitable for all LED bulbs. An old dimmer designed for incandescent bulbs may cause flickering or limit the adjustment range.

  1. Measure the available space in the fixture: width 95 mm, length 135 mm.
  2. Check the type of dimmer and its specified power rating for LED loads.
  3. Turn off the power and screw in the lamp.
  4. Test the dimming range from one extreme to the other before final installation.

Does an 11-watt LED really replace a 100-watt incandescent bulb?

Yes. The amount of light is what matters, and this bulb provides 1521 lumens, which corresponds to the light of a traditional 100-watt incandescent bulb. Electricity consumption drops from 100 watts to 11 watts, or about 89 percent. The watt indicates consumption, the lumen indicates brightness – which is why comparisons should always be made in lumens.

Is 4000 Kelvin too cool for a home?

4000 K is neutral white: it is neither as yellow as traditional 2700 Kelvin incandescent light nor as blue as 6500 Kelvin daylight. It is well-suited for kitchens, utility rooms, workspaces, and hallways where clear light is desired. For the bedroom and evening lighting in the living room, many prefer 2700 Kelvin.

Does the lamp work with an old dimmer?

The bulb is marked as dimmable, but the final result depends on the dimmer. Older dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs often require a significantly larger load than a single 11-watt LED, which can cause the light to flicker or result in a narrow dimming range. The most reliable solution is an LED-compatible dimmer. Electrical installations must be performed by a certified electrician.

What is the difference between a matte and a clear globe bulb?

Frosted glass diffuses light evenly and hides the filament, preventing the bulb from glaring even if it remains visible. In a clear bulb, the filament is visible and the light is sharper, which is suitable for decorative use. This model is frosted, so it works well even in an open luminaire where the bulb is at eye level.
