This R7s linear lamp replaces a hot 38-watt halogen rod with just 4 watts — it is suitable for, for example, floodlights and uplight floor lamps with an R7s base. The lamp provides 450 lumens of warm 2700 Kelvin light in every direction (360°) and heats up significantly less than a halogen. The most important check before purchasing is the length: this model is 78 mm and will not fit 118 mm fixtures.

Compatibility and installation

The lamp operates directly on 220–240 V mains voltage in R7s holders and does not require a separate transformer. The lamp is not dimmable, so do not use it in a fixture controlled by a dimmer.

Installation checklist:

  1. Measure the lamp length of your R7s fixture — this lamp is 78 mm (does not fit 118 mm fixtures).
  2. Switch off the power and allow the old halogen to cool down before replacing it — halogen lamps are very hot during use.
  3. Ensure the fixture is not controlled by a dimmer — this lamp is not dimmable.
  4. Insert the lamp into the holders so that the LED side faces towards the room or reflector, and press the ends firmly into place.

Which bulb does this replace?

This 4-watt LED linear lamp replaces a traditional 38-watt R7s halogen lamp. It provides 450 lumens of warm 2700 Kelvin light and fits into the same R7s fixtures, provided the length matches (this model is 78 mm). The LED consumes a fraction of the power of a halogen and generates significantly less heat.

Does this fit all R7s light fixtures?

Suitable if the luminaire's R7s length is 78 mm. There are two common lengths for R7s lamps, 78 mm and 118 mm, and they are not interchangeable. Measure the old lamp or check the luminaire's markings before purchasing. Additionally, point the LED side of the lamp towards the area or reflector so that the light is directed correctly.

How much energy will I save compared to halogen?

This bulb consumes 4 watts and replaces a 38-watt halogen, so energy consumption drops by approximately 89 percent while maintaining the same light output. The LED also produces significantly less heat than a hot-running halogen and lasts longer, so the bulb needs to be replaced less frequently.

Can this lamp be dimmed?

No. This model is not dimmable, so do not install it in a luminaire or circuit controlled by a dimmer. With a dimmer, the lamp may flicker, buzz, or be damaged. If you need a dimmable R7s lamp, choose a model specifically marked as dimmable.
