This LED filament bulb is a multi-voltage special model that operates within the 12–24 V voltage range. The classic filament structure (visible glowing strips) provides a beautiful retro-inspired look with modern LED technology. With 6 W of power, it achieves 670 lm of light — equivalent to a 51 W traditional incandescent bulb. Particularly suitable for ships, caravans, summer cottage battery systems, and other 12 V or 24 V low-voltage systems.

Multi-voltage 12–24 V — suitable for both 12 V and 24 V systems. E27 base. LED filament — retro look. NOT suitable for 230 V mains voltage.

Compatibility and use

Multi-voltage 12–24 V — the same bulb for many systems

The same bulb works in both 12 V and 24 V systems — an excellent solution when multiple different voltage systems are in use or the system voltage may fluctuate during operation:

  • Interior lighting for ships and boats (12 V or 24 V)
  • Caravans and motorhomes (12 V)
  • Solar power systems for cottages (12 V or 24 V)
  • Trucks (24 V)
  • Industrial and emergency lighting

LED filament — retro look with modern technology

LED filament bulbs imitate the look of an old incandescent bulb — the LED strips (filaments) visible in the clear glass bulb resemble a traditional filament. A good choice for:

  • Open chandeliers where the bulb remains visible
  • Lighting for restored historic houses and old buildings
  • Industrial-style lamps (Edison look)
  • Restaurants and cafés where a vintage atmosphere is desired

Filament technology provides nearly 320° light distribution — much wider than a traditional LED, which can be directional (180–240°).

Energy saving in a 12–24 V system

When the bulb runs on battery power, energy savings are significant:

  • Traditional 51 W incandescent bulb: approximately 4 A from a 12 V system
  • LED 6 W (this one): approximately 0.5 A from a 12 V system

Battery life increases 8-fold — significant for ships and caravans where the battery is a limiting factor.

Service life

The typical service life of LED filament bulbs is 15,000–25,000 hours. This is significantly longer than the 1,000–2,000 h of an incandescent bulb. A significant advantage in special systems where changing the bulb can be difficult.

Installation checklist

  1. Cut off power from the system
  2. Let the old bulb cool down (if replacing a halogen)
  3. Verify that the system voltage is 12–24 V (not 230 V)
  4. Unscrew the old bulb from the E27 base
  5. Install the new bulb — screw in clockwise
  6. Turn the power on and test
Power: 6W

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Can a 12–24 V LED bulb be damaged by voltage spikes on a vessel?

This lamp is designed for a voltage range of 12–24 V. Momentary voltage spikes — for example, during startup or when switching devices — generally do not damage a modern LED lamp:

  • Small voltage spike (momentarily under 30 V): no problem, the LED can handle it
  • Larger disturbance (over 30 V for a prolonged period): may damage the LED electronics

On vessels, we recommend using a high-quality voltage stabilizer if there is significant interference in the system. In most small systems, the lamp will withstand normal operating conditions without issue.

Does a LED filament differ from a standard LED bulb?

Yes, the appearance and light distribution differ:

  • LED filament bulb (this one): visible LED strips, nearly 360° light distribution, retro look
  • Standard LED bulb (matte): hidden LED, directional 180–240° light distribution, modern look

According to usage:

  • Open chandeliers: the filament provides a beautiful retro look
  • Dome lights, downlights: a standard LED is more effective for directional light
  • Mood lighting: filament — restaurants, cafes, households where the bulb remains visible

Energy savings and service life are equally good for both.

Is it AC or DC compatible?

This lamp operates on both AC and DC voltage in the 12–24 V range. This is practical:

  • DC 12 V: battery-powered systems (boats, caravans, cabins) — runs directly from the battery
  • DC 24 V: trucks, larger battery systems
  • AC 12 V: halogen transformers (electromagnetic or electronic) — works without issues
  • AC 24 V: less common, but works

No need to distinguish between AC and DC models — one lamp fits all needs.

Can I dim this lamp?

No — this model is not dimmable. If you require dimming capability, look for LED models specifically marked "Dimmable" or "Himmennettävä".

Dimming low-voltage 12–24V LED filament bulbs is generally challenging:

  • A special low-voltage dimmer that supports LED technology is required
  • Standard halogen dimmers usually do not work optimally with LED bulbs
  • Dimming solutions are less common for boats and caravans

In practice, the bulb is designed for on/off use. This is the most common setup for marine and recreational vehicle use.
