Compatibility and installation

The lamp operates on 24 volts and requires a suitable transformer — do not connect it directly to the 230 V mains. If the fixture does not have a built-in transformer, see transformers and ballasts. The very narrow 8-degree beam focuses light precisely, making the lamp suitable for accent lighting, not general illumination.

Installation checklist:

  1. Ensure the fixture has a GY4 socket and a suitable 24 V transformer.
  2. Switch off the power and allow the old lamp to cool before replacing it.
  3. Do not touch the lamp glass or reflector with bare fingers; use a cloth or gloves.
  4. Insert the lamp pins straight into the socket without bending them.

Yes. This is a 24-volt halogen lamp, so the luminaire must have a suitable transformer and must not be connected directly to the 230 V mains. If the luminaire does not have a built-in transformer, please see our transformers and ballasts.

What does an 8-degree beam angle mean?

8 degrees is a very narrow beam that focuses the light precisely on a small area. It is suitable for highlighting an individual object — not for general lighting of a large space.

Can the glass of the bulb be touched during installation?

No. Do not touch the bulb glass or reflector with bare fingers. Skin oils can shorten the life of the bulb. Handle the bulb with a cloth or gloves.
