The Airam LED tube is a long-lasting and energy-efficient replacement for traditional 58W T8 fluorescent tubes. The glass tube body and opal cover produce an even, flicker-free light, and it illuminates instantly even in freezing temperatures. The tube can be directly replaced with a fluorescent tube using the included LED starter.

T8 G13 base. Works with a magnetic ballast — the old starter is replaced with the included LED starter. Also suitable for LED-ready luminaires.

Compatibility and installation

Installable in two ways

The Airam LED tube is suitable for two installation methods:

  • Magnetic ballast: the old fluorescent tube starter is replaced with the included LED starter. The magnetic ballast remains in place.
  • LED-ready luminaire: the tube fits as is into luminaires designed for LED tubes.

Electronic HF ballast

The tube is not marked as compatible with electronic HF ballasts. If the luminaire has an HF ballast, options include rewiring by an electrician or choosing a tube specifically marked as HF-compatible. If you are unsure about the type of ballast, please contact our customer service.

Compensation capacitor

If the luminaire has a compensation capacitor, removing it improves the power factor (Pf). This should be done by an electrician.

Typical applications

  • Offices, corridors, and meeting rooms
  • Warehouses and industrial premises
  • Shops and commercial premises
  • Cold environments — the tube illuminates at full power even in freezing temperatures

Energy saving and light quality

A 22W LED tube replaces a 58W fluorescent tube, saving approximately 60–70% energy. The light is flicker-free and even, and the tube contains no mercury and produces no UV or IR radiation.

Installation checklist

  1. Check that the luminaire has a T8 G13 base and is 1500 mm long
  2. Turn off the power at the main switch
  3. Remove the old fluorescent tube
  4. Replace the old starter with the included LED starter
  5. Install the LED tube into the holder
  6. Turn on the power and check operation
Power: 22W

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Does this Airam LED tube replace the old 58W fluorescent tube?

Yes. This Airam LED tube is designed to replace traditional 58W T8 fluorescent tubes. It is the same length (1500 mm) and uses the same G13 base, so it fits directly into fluorescent tube holders.

The LED tube produces 3300 lm of light with only 22 watts of power, while the old 58W fluorescent tube consumes almost three times more energy. In addition, the LED tube lights up instantly, does not flicker, and operates at full power even in freezing temperatures — unlike a fluorescent tube.

Does the starter of a fluorescent lamp need to be replaced when installing an LED tube?

Depends on the luminaire. The tube works in two ways:

  • Magnetic ballast: the old fluorescent tube starter is replaced with the included LED starter. The ballast remains in place.
  • LED-ready luminaire: the tube fits as is into luminaires designed for LED tubes.

If the luminaire has a compensation capacitor, removing it will improve the power factor. Electrical work must be performed by an electrician. Turn off the power before replacing the tube.

Does the Airam LED tube work with an electronic HF ballast?

This Airam LED tube is designed for luminaires with a magnetic ballast (with starter replacement) and for LED-ready luminaires.

The tube is not marked as compatible with electronic HF ballasts. If your luminaire has an HF ballast, the alternatives are a wiring modification by an electrician or choosing an LED tube specifically marked as HF-compatible. If you are unsure about the ballast type, please contact our customer service.

How much energy does an Airam LED tube save compared to a fluorescent tube?

Energy saving is significant. Comparison:

  • Old 58W fluorescent tube: approximately 58–70 W consumption, including ballast losses
  • This 22W LED tube: 22 W

The energy saving is approximately 60–70%. In addition, the lifespan of the LED tube (25,000–30,000 h) is significantly longer than that of a fluorescent tube, which also reduces replacement costs and maintenance work. The investment pays for itself through reduced electricity bills.
