Osram Halostar is a 12-volt GY6.35 halogen lamp that provides a warm 2900 Kelvin light for low-voltage luminaires, such as spotlights and cabinet lighting. The lamp operates on 12 volts and requires a suitable transformer to function. More energy-efficient LED alternatives are also available for the same base.

Base GY6.35 · 35 W · 580 lm · 2900 K (warm white) · 12 V · 12 × 44 mm · dimmable · requires a transformer

Requires a transformer: this is a 12 V halogen lamp, so the luminaire must have a suitable transformer. Do not connect the lamp directly to the 230 V mains.

You can find a more energy-efficient alternative in the GY6.35 LED lamps category. You can find the warranty terms here.

Installation checklist:

  1. Ensure the luminaire has a GY6.35 holder and a suitable 12 V transformer.
  2. Turn off the power and allow the old lamp to cool down before replacing it.
  3. Do not touch the glass of the lamp with bare fingers; use a cloth or gloves.
  4. Push the lamp pins straight into the holder and do not bend them.

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Which bulb does this replace?

This is a 35-watt GY6.35 halogen bulb (12 V) that replaces a corresponding old GY6.35 halogen. It provides 580 lumens of warm 2900 Kelvin light and is suitable for low-voltage fixtures.

Does the lamp need a transformer?

Yes. This is a 12-volt halogen bulb, so the light fixture must have a suitable transformer, and it must not be connected directly to the 230 V mains. If the light fixture does not have a built-in transformer, see transformers and ballasts.

Is there an LED alternative for this?

Yes. LED bulbs are also available for the same GY6.35 base, which consume less energy and last longer. Please check the compatibility of the LED model with your transformer before replacing it.

Can I touch the light bulb glass when installing it?

No. Do not touch the bulb glass with bare fingers. Skin oils leave a mark on the glass that heats up during use and shortens its lifespan. Handle the bulb with a cloth or gloves.
